Every day, without knowing it, we are passing on who we are, what we possess and what we learn. Are we ensuring what matters will be available to those who follow in our footsteps?
A legacy is inevitable. You will pass a bedrock of experiences down to the next generation. No matter how much you have to materially to leave behind, you will instill character traits, talents, fears, hopes, dreams, skills and more in the many you meet as well as your own children and grandchildren. For example, do you have a fear of spiders? Maybe snakes? It could be your ancestors trying to tell you something. Recent studies have provided evidence that memories of fear are one of many things our ancestors passed down to us through our DNA.
We have each drawn water from the wells we have not dug; we have sat under shades trees we did not plant and we each have a wonderful opportunity to provide the means for the church to have a strong and empowering ministry for generations to come. How valuable will your spiritual legacy be? All of us desire to leave an inheritance of significant value to those around us. Therefore, it’s our responsibility to “download” – or transfer — to others the truth and the values that Infinite Spirit has lovingly given us.
